Goshen, NY (Oct. 10) -- Former Orange County Executive Ed Diana (R) today strongly endorsed his former Deputy County Executive and current candidate for Congress, Jimmy O’Donnell (R, C, Ref).
Mr. O’Donnell served with Ed Diana as his Deputy County Executive for eight years, from 2005 to 2013. During that time, he also served as Executive Director of both the Foreign Trade Zone and the Orange County Industrial Development Agency, where he created and retained thousands of jobs. Some of O’Donnell’s most notable accomplishments included the implementation of a Lean Six Sigma Program that saved county taxpayers more than $2 million and his leadership overseeing emergency operations following Hurricanes Lee and Irene and Superstorm Sandy. Mr. O’Donnell also played a key role in helping to close the Camp LaGuardia homeless shelter.
“When I asked Jimmy to serve as Deputy County Executive, I knew his character and leadership skills would be a tremendous asset to County government, but it was impossible to measure just how profound his impact would be,” said former Deputy County Executive Ed Diana. “Jimmy’s approach was to never accept the status quo, to work to find a solution, and always to put the people of Orange County first. I could not say this any more enthusiastically: we need Jimmy in Congress working for us.”
“It was honor to serve in Ed’s administration, and it’s an honor to have his support in my campaign for Congress,” said Mr. O’Donnell. We worked together tirelessly to make Orange County a better place to live, work and raise a family, and we accomplished a lot. I want to continue that progress in the U.S. House and give the people of Orange County a true advocate in Washington.”
