International Union of Police Associations endorses O'Donnell for Congress

Following is the text of a statement by Sam A. Cabral, International President of the International Union of Police Associations, speaking on behalf of the Union in endorsing Jimmy O'Donnell (R,C,Ref) for U.S. Congress:

Dear Mr. O'Donnell:

On behalf of the International Union of Police Associations, AFL-CIO, I am proud to add our name to the many Law Enforcement professionals who have endorsed your campaign to represent New York's 18th District in the United States House of Representatives.

As you know, we represent more than 4,000 Law Enforcement Officers in both state and municipal departments throughout the great State of New York. Those who have worked with you and for you testify to your integrity, judgment and advocacy on their behalf.

Police officers are facing very challenging times. We have much work ahead of us. We are grateful to have an administration in Washington, DC that finally supports our efforts to protect the public we serve. While many in Congress like to drape themselves in the mantle of "law and order," too few of them are willing to stand with us and offer their support with their votes.

Your background and proven record of service is testimony to your dedication to the principles these brave men and women embrace. I look forward to working with you and your campaign to make this effort into a reality, and to see you sworn in next year. Please feel free to use our name and/or logo in any campaign literature you deem appropriate.

Very respectfully,
Sam A. Cabral
International President
